It was in the 1980’s that I created costumes for pop video’s and commercials, this included many of the films produced by Hipgnosis.
Setting up workshops to produce costumes and sets for filming throughout the world has been my role since then and Storm Thorgerson (His design for The Dark Side of the Moon has been called one of the greatest album covers of all time) became a lifelong friend.
It was when he was dying along side Mark Fisher (Pink Floyd's stage designer) that Aubrey Powell (co-founded the album cover design company Hipgnosis with Storm Thorgerson) was left to produce the exhibition for the V&A. Aubrey asked me to produce ‘The abstracts mannequins ‘ to reflected the mindset of the album covers. Having shared my childhood with Roger Walters, Syd Barrett and David Gilmour their music and their lyrics are used within my current work.
Please have a look at the V&A's website to see more about this amazing exhibition. https://www.vam.ac.uk/articles/inside-the-pink-floyd-their-mortal-remains-exhibition
